Answers to some of the more regularly asked questions to Western Wilderness 4WD & Survival Training

Glynn Williams our senior driver instructor has provided answers to some of the more regularly asked questions (FAQs) to Western Wilderness 4WD & Survival Training Perth to help you to determine which four-wheel drive course is best suited to your requirements to enable you to book the course directly online through our website, what to bring along on your four-wheel drive course, as well as what to expect when you book a Perth 4WD course through Western Wilderness 4WD & Survival Training.

What days are your courses on?

The available course training days are displayed in green on the booking calendars for each course in our online booking system.

Will a scheduled course be cancelled due to weather?

YES. In extreme weather conditions for safety reasons, and if local councils place a ban due to high temperatures or conditions courses may be cancelled and you will be advised.

Is there a cancellation fee?

YES. A full refund less $20 administration fee with more than ten days’ notice in email format. If a cancellation occurs within 9 days’ notice you will forfeit 50% of the course price.  If you have booked a position and do not attend you forfeit the right to any refund.

Is your company insured?

YES. But it is the vehicle owner’s responsibility to ensure their own vehicle is adequately insured, roadworthy and registered.

Do you provide a first-aid kit?

YES, plus we also carry sun block and insect repellent if required, and our staff are trained in first-aid.

What equipment do you supply?

For course participants we supply the UHF Radios, all 4WD recovery equipment such as compressors and tyre deflators.

What do I need to bring along with me?

  • Licensed, insured and roadworthy 4WD vehicle.
  • Your current Australian driver’s licence.
  • A full tank of fuel – not over full.
  • Indemnity forms for every person in your group (every adult to fill in and sign both pages of the two-page form).
  • Any recovery equipment you have already purchased.
  • Food and drinks as required for the day, including water (no alcohol).
  • Thermos with tea or coffee if desired.
  • Any personal medication you may need (including allergies i.e. EpiPens and medication required for emergency situations).
  • Suitable clothing i.e. hat, wet weather gear, enclosed strong shoes (no thongs or open sandals). Even on sunny days it can be cold first thing in the morning.  It is advisable to bring or wear layers to allow for changes in temperature.
  • Insect repellent
  • Sunscreen
  • If you are doing the Recovery Course please bring camping/portable chairs for everyone in your group.

Is food and drinks supplied?

NO, but we carry emergency water if required.

Do you take Learner L-Plate drivers?


Do you take P-Plate drivers?


Which types of four-wheel drives do you work with?

All types of 4WD’s.

Do you accept credit card payments?

Only through Papal when you book a course through our online booking system on our website.

Is this a recognised training course?

NO, we don’t conduct Nationally Accredited Recognised Training course’s (RTO).

Are there discounts for more than one participant?

YES, if you book two or more positions through our website with the one booking, you automatically receive a 5% or 10% discount.

Will I receive a certificate at the end of my course?

On request if you need one for proof of attendance, but they are attendance certificates only and not suitable for Mine sites etc.

Can you do small group corporate training?

YES, we are happy to discuss corporate needs with customers, just call on 0418 787 551.

Can I bring my dog with me?

No – Some of our training is in National Parks where domestic animals are not permitted.
