This two day course is for all ages that wish to travel with a four wheel drive. It has been designed to give you plenty of time to get to know your vehicle and equipment and how to survive in a very relaxed bush setting. This training course is capped at 3 vehicles, allowing for plenty of interaction and learning time with Glynn. This course is broken down into hands on, practical segments throughout the weekend that will assist you in preparing for your journey in a fun and relaxed environment as you develop the "skills to choose your own adventure".

Please note: This course is $800 inc GST per vehicle maximum two persons.

MATES RATES: Book your mates under the same booking on the same training day and receive 5% discount for one mate and 10% discount for two mates off the TOTAL BILL

Day One Itinerary:

Four Wheel Drive Training 08:00 Start

  • Understand how a four wheel drive works
  • Environmental impact
  • Driving on gravel roads
  • Driving over difficult terrain
  • Introduction to basic recovery equipment
  • Wheel changing / Tyre plugging
  • Setting up camp

Evening Day One

  • Prepare for your trip / tools /equipment /stores etc
  • Radio Communications UHF  / Satellite  phones / Personal Locator Beacon / Spot etc
  • Sharing the road with Heavy vehicles
  • Understanding the Royal Flying Doctor Service and services available in remote locations.

Day Two Itinerary: Survival Training 08:00 - 16:00

  • Priorities and Principles of Survival
  • Fire lighting techniques
  • Shelter construction
  • Water procurement and treatment
  • Emergency Signals
  • Survival Kits
  • Grab Bag

What to bring:

  • Download our Course Registration and Disclaimer Form and have it ready for us on arrival.
  • Food and drinks as required for two days and overnight, including water
  • Any personal medication you may need (including allergies EpiPen, etc.)
  • Suitable clothing i.e. Hat, sunscreen, wet weather gear, enclosed strong shoes (no thongs or open sandals)
  • Insect repellent
